Larry Romezes Walker

Larry Romezes Walker was born on July 6, 1950, to William T. Walker Sr. and Mary Walker, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his brother, Jeffrey Walker. He was the second child and was raised alongside his brothers, William Jr. and Jeffrey, and his sister, Patricia. From an early age, Larry displayed leadership qualities that were evident to everyone around him, especially his parents. He often shared stories about how, whenever he and his brothers were sent to the store, he was entrusted to carry the money because his parents knew he was responsible, dependable, and trustworthy. Those characteristics remained with him throughout his life and became part of the foundation of the man he would grow to be. Throughout his life, he lived by the simple yet meaningful motto, “Spend some and save some.” Larry attended Norview High School, graduating with the Class of 1968, where he was recognized for his talent in track and field. He later continued his education at Norfolk State University. During his college years, he began working at Peoples Drug Store, where his natural leadership abilities quickly became evident. Through hard work, dedication, and integrity, he steadily advanced to the position of Store Manager.. At the age of 24, Larry met his first wife, Faye Coefield, and from their union came one of the greatest blessings of his life — his daughter, Katrina, born in 1975. Larry deeply loved his family and honored his parents. His daughter was truly his treasure, and he affectionately called her “Monster,” a nickname spoken with warmth, pride, and love. He was known as the favorite uncle to many and lived a life marked by sacrifice, especially when it came to providing for and supporting his daughter. Although his marriage to Faye was brief, Larry remained a devoted and active father who consistently showed up for his child in meaningful ways. In the late 1990s, Larry began a new chapter of life when he relocated to Maryland, where he continued working in management within the retail industry. To his friends, coworkers, and those who knew him best, Larry was known as one cool dude. As a manager, he believed in giving opportunities to individuals who may have otherwise been overlooked. He used his position not only to lead, but also to mentor, encourage, and guide others. Whether offering wisdom about relationships, finances, or life itself, Larry was someone people trusted for honest advice and genuine conversation. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Larry was quick-witted, honest, and unapologetically himself. He spoke his mind plainly and sincerely, and he had a gift for storytelling. He loved sharing memories of his childhood and the many lessons life had taught him along the way. His stories were often filled with humor, wisdom, and truth — leaving those around him laughing while also reflecting deeply. To say Larry was a man of few words would certainly not be accurate, because once he started talking, it was hard to get a word in edgewise. And if he called your name several times during a conversation, it simply meant he wanted to make sure you were truly listening. Though Larry rarely said the words “I love you,” he believed love was best demonstrated through actions. If he checked on you, helped you, shared wisdom with you, or spent hours talking with you on the phone, then you could be certain that you were loved by him. His presence, loyalty, and willingness to show up for others spoke louder than words ever could. Larry lived life on his own terms, and as his earthly journey began nearing its close, he made peace with the fact that he was ready to go. In his final days, he gave his life to Christ, shared communion with his family, and intentionally expressed his love to his daughter. He was surrounded by love, comfort, and the assurance that GOD had prepared eternity for him. After a life marked by hard work, sacrifice, wisdom, resilience, and love, Larry entered into eternal rest on May 6, 2026, with his daughter faithfully by his side. Those who knew and loved him remain forever grateful for the moments they shared with him, the wisdom he imparted, and the laughter that so often filled the room whenever he was near. He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Katrina (Tabin) Garrett; his brother, William (Carolyn) Walker Jr.; his sister, Patricia Griffin; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
