NESBITT, daughter of the late Annette Thomas and John Stanback, lived a life defined by devotion, creativity, resilience, and abiding love. Formative years at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School shaped both her discipline and determination. Lifelong friendships were forged there, and the quiet strength that would characterize her path began to take root. Early adulthood brought a meaningful partnership with Allen Montague-Bey, and from that union came her greatest blessing, her beloved daughter, Lateefah Montague-Bey. During this season of growth and discovery, her spiritual journey deepened through membership in the Moorish Science Temple, where faith became both anchor and compass. A distinguished career with the Mass Transit Administration followed, spanning 32 years of faithful service as a bus operator and station attendant. Daily responsibilities were met with integrity, steadiness, and a work ethic that earned the respect of colleagues and community alike. Within that chapter, destiny introduced her to Eugene Nesbitt, the man who would share her life for decades. What began 38 years ago as a courtship matured into a lifelong partnership, solemnized in marriage on October 10, 1998. Together they cultivated a union grounded in loyalty, laughter, and enduring companionship. Among the joys they shared, bowling held a special place. League nights brought friendly competition, travel and fellowship. Side by side, they celebrated victories, learned from losses, and built friendships that extended far beyond the lanes. Creativity flowed naturally through her hands. Friends knew her as a gifted braider whose precision and care transformed simple strands into works of art. Holiday seasons were marked by elaborate displays that radiated warmth and imagination. As a seamstress, she stitched with patience and intention, producing garments and pieces that reflected both skill and pride. Her garden stood as a living testament to her nurturing spirit. Within that sacred space, blossoms flourished under her attentive care, each one a quiet reflection of her tenderness. Peaceful afternoons unfolded beneath open skies, where sunshine and fresh air offered renewal. Watching tennis, savoring crabs, and enjoying Dunkin’ coffee was among the simple pleasures that brightened her days. A keen eye for style and a love of discovery turned shopping into a treasure hunt. Whether visiting Gabes, strolling through outlet stores, or exploring thrift shops, she delighted in uncovering distinctive finds that expressed her individuality. Animals, too, found sanctuary in her presence. The rabbits she affectionately called her friends would gather near the screened porch, as though aware that carrots and apples awaited them. Hummingbirds danced among the blooms she cultivated, while stray cats found both nourishment and gentle refuge on her front porch. Compassion extended effortlessly from her heart to every living creature, creating a small world defined by harmony and care. Above all else, her daughter, Lateefah, remained the center of her joy. Their bond was woven from deep affection, shared laughter, and unwavering support. Concerts, visits to botanical gardens, and countless explorations of nurseries and specialty shops filled their days with shared wonder. Together they created a tapestry of memories that will forever remain sacred. Dale leaves to treasure her precious memory: a loving husband, Eugene Nesbitt; beloved daughter, Lateefah Montague-Bey; stepchildren, Danielle Nesbitt, Stephanie Nesbitt, and Timothy Nesbitt, whom she embraced as her own, siblings, Stanley Braxton, Carlette Lane, Drey Stanback, Jamie Stanback, Carol Stanback, and David Stanback; along with a host of relatives and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.
