Aaron Bazemore Jr.

Aaron Bazemore Jr. entered eternal rest on January 25, 2026, at home. Aaron was born in Windsor, North Carolina on September 25, 1948, to the late Aaron Bazemore Sr. and Mary Allen Bazemore. Aaron was educated in the Bertie County School system. Aaron resided in Maryland most of his adult life. Together with his wife Linda, they raised two daughters, Teresa and Tarryn. He also fathered a son, Terron and enjoyed being a grandfather to his four grandchildren, and two bonus grandchildren. Upon graduating high school, Aaron joined the Air Force for 4 years, where he served in the Vietnam war. He moved in rank to staff sergeant before an honorable discharge, followed by an additional two years in the reserve. He began a career in the United States Postal Service in 1970, starting as a clerk before transitioning into maintenance. He was selected to be part of a specialized maintenance crew called the Overhaul Team, before achieving promotion to a maintenance manager. He retired in 2005 after 36 years of service. After his retirement, he immediately fulfilled his goal to become a CDL driver for Reliable Contracting and Eastern Fuel to satiate his love of navigating the road. He returned back to his much beloved home state of North Carolina where he worked at Bertie Correctional Institution in the maintenance department for 10 years from 2007-2017. He was a dedicated worker who prided himself on doing every assignment with excellence. Aaron was a faithful member of Indian Woods Baptist Church in Windsor, NC and for many years served in the treasury, even while living out of state. Upon his return to North Carolina, he served as a proud trustee, working with the budget committee and hospitality ministry. In addition, he occasionally sang on the choir and enjoyed his role as an usher. He joyfully contributed to the upkeep and maintenance of the church and praise and worship was his favorite part of every service. Aaron was an avid reader and sports enthusiast with a passion for basketball, playing as often as he could. He was a proud Baltimore Ravens fan and loved visiting and entertaining beloved family and friends. He enjoyed country, blues and soul music, playing card games, bowling, boating, and fishing. All of his children have fond memories of watching favorite movies, cartoons, and nostalgic tv shows with him. His tenderness of heart was always expressed through his love for children and their mutual fondness of him. Aaron was a talented jack-of-all-trades and could make or fix just about anything! He was full of wisdom and a reliable shoulder for many to lean on. Always looking out for loved ones, he emphasized the importance of helping others whenever possible. Throughout his life, Aaron left a legacy of strength, dependability, wise counsel, joy and love. He is greatly missed and fondly remembered by those whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his dear sisters, Lillian, Sheila and Sharon. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife, Linda Bazemore; loving daughters, Teresa Taylor and Tarryn Bazemore Williams (Sean); loving son Terron Bazemore; one brother, John Bazemore (Nina); four sisters, Jean Friday (John), Elizabeth Cherry, Beryl Bazemore, Etta Sabrina Bazemore; four grandchildren, Corey, Cody and Zoe Bazemore, and Sean-Aaron Bazemore Williams; bonus grandchildren, Taylor Howard and Trinity Young; much beloved best friend, Wilbert Perry (Mary); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
