Emma C. Harrison

EMMA CLARITA HARRISON was born on March 26, 1930, in Gordonsville, Virginia to the late Charley Madison and Mary [Walker] Madison. She departed this life on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at 10:58 a.m. in Northwest Hospital with her family at her side. Emma attended Orange High, in Orangeville, Virginia where she completed her education. On March 20, 1948, she married James L. Harrison in Baltimore, Maryland. Emma worked various jobs before attaining her career job at Fort Meade. Emma worked at National Security Agency where she received numerous awards for her job performance and attendance. Upon the occasion of her retirement after twenty-one years of federal service, she was commended for her dedication to the United States Government and her support of the mission of the National Security Agency which contributed significantly to the agency’s mutual efforts. Emma’s co-workers and friends joined together to bid her a fond farewell and to wish her happiness on all her future endeavors. Emma was an extraordinary loving wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and mother-in-law. Mother Emma was loved by all. She had a special love for everyone. Mother Emma served on the Mother’s Board at Lighthouse Ministries Praise & Worship Church, Inc. where she was faithful and committed, where her son, Dr. Gary F. Harrison is Senior Pastor and her daughter in-law, Dr. Brenda J. Harrison is Pastor. Mother Emma was very proud of Senior Pastor Gary as her Pastor. Mother Emma had a sweet, humble spirit; but could be feisty when necessary. Mother Emma will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband James L. Harrison, daughter Patricia Glenn, sons Patrick Harrison, Jerome Harrison, and Gregory Harrison. Mother Emma leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Dr. Gary F. Harrison; two daughters, Gay Mary Vinnie Wise and Theresa Atkinson; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sisters, Annabelle Belle and Lucy Johnson; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and special friends; son-in-law, Deacon James Glenn and daughter-in-law, Dr. Brenda J. Harrison.
