Edith Johnson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Edith Moore Davis was born in Laurinburg, North Carolina on March 16, 1928, to the late Angus Jones and Evelyn Davis Jones. She was an only child of their union but was reared with many, many cousins who were like siblings. She was educated at the Laurinburg Institute and met her husband, Lawrence Johnson Sr. when she was a senior in high school. They married in 1947. From their union, four children were born, Lawrence Jr., Angus, Linda and Stephen. After completing service in the United States Army, Lawrence Sr., relocated his family to Baltimore, Maryland where he accepted employment at Bethlehem Steel Co. Edith attended nurses’ assistant training and worked part-time as an assistant and as a domestic aide. Edith was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She loved life and lived it to the fullest during her 93 years. She was the epitome of grace, compassion, and sincerity. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, three sons and best friends, Caletha and Mary Lee. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory; her daughter, Linda Faulkner-Martin, her grandsons, Aaron, and Timothy Faulkner, her granddaughter-in-law, Cherrill Faulkner, her great grandchildren, Arielle, Alysha, Brion, Angel, and Timothy Aaron. Her cousins, Gloria Mae Wilson (Bobby) of York, South Carolina, Ernestine Loacoina of Wayne, New Jersey, and Patricia McDaniels (Charles) of Charlotte, North Carolina, her Baltimore cousins...the entire McFadden family. Finally, her very devoted friend and confidant Ruth McCoy.
