Christine V. Weems

Christine Virginia Gardner-Weems, affectionately known as “Tink” answered God’s call and departed this life, at home on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. Christine was born in Baltimore, Maryland on May 10, 1942 to the late Thomas Wesley Gardner, Sr. and Emma Jane Gardner. Christine grew up in the historical East Towson community and received her education in the Baltimore County Public School System. Her religious upbringing began at Mount Calvary A.M.E. Church in Towson. Christine was employed with the Baltimore County Public Schools where she held a custodial position for years. She also worked as a lead cook at the Towson House restaurant. The customers loved her outgoing personality as she took great pride in her work. She always had a funny joke for the recurring customers. Christine married the late Roger G. Weems, Sr. and from that union they had four children. She would tell you that her greatest accomplishment in life was being a mother. Tink enjoyed family gatherings or just being at home listening to music. Some of her favorite artists were the “Maestro” Barry White and the Energetic Tina Turner. She loved to dance! We all know she had moves including her signature thrust move– no one could do it better. Tink was the “life of the party.” She also enjoyed hand dancing and if you couldn’t lead, she would. She enjoyed playing cards and Pokeno. They would play until the wee hours of the morning. Those who knew her have their own stories to tell as she impacted many lives, either through love, friendship, or her humor. In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her companion, Michael Hurst (Pop Pop); sisters, Betty Strothers, Dorothy Smith, Jane Gardner, and Ann Gardner; brothers, Thomas Gardner, Jr., Donald Gardner, Robert A. Gardner, and Morris Gardner, Sr. She will be reunited in heaven with her “Golden Girls”– Delphine Anderson and Tina Thomas. Christine leaves to cherish her memory: her loving children, Darlene Weems-Scribner, Denise Weems, Roger Weems, Jr., and Roland Weems; devoted sister, Bernice Dorsey; uncle, Calvin Johnson; a loving daughter-in-law, Tershel Weems; sister-in law, Faye Gardner; loving grandchildren, Dennard Daniels, Martitez Weems, Debra Weems (Poo-Poo), Kedrick Scribner, Jr., Miranda Scribner, and Kedria Scribner; loving great-grandchildren, Lavoy Watkins, Jr., Lavon Watkins, Lavell Watkins, Marray Watkins, I’asiah Weems, Nova Scribner, Princeton Weems, Isaiah Daniels, Amarie Bell, Kamayah Daniels, Kodi Daniels, Makayla Daniels; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
