Amarjit Singh Sokhey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of, Amarjit (Amar) S. Sokhey. Amar passed away suddenly last week while on vacation with his family. Amar was a renaissance man, amazing in every way – a doting husband, a proud and loving father and grandfather, a beautiful artist, a creative learner and such a sweet and encouraging friend to all. He was dedicated to serving God and the community in which he lived. He was active member of the Sikh Association of Baltimore. Amar was born in Burma and emigrated to the United States in 1971 with his wife Pushpa Sokhey. Amar was an engineer by trade and dedicated his career to improving the water and wastewater industry. Amar worked for the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), where he served as the DPW Bureau Head of Water and Wastewater, the Division Chief of Water and Wastewater Facilities Engineering, and the Division Chief of Construction Management. He later went on to work for EBA Engineering in 2002 upon his retirement from Baltimore City. Amar is survived by his wife Pushpa Sokhey, daughter Nami Sokhey, son and daughter-in-law, Sandeep and Bhavini Sokhey as well as his five grandchildren – Simryn, Sureena, Priya, Kareena, and Arjun.
