Adorn Christine Barney

A TIME TO BE BORN Adorn Christine Barney was born on December 29th, 1959 to the late Donald & Ruth Barney… A TIME TO LEARN Adorn was educated in the Baltimore City Public System. Graduating from the Lake Clifton Senior High School in June of 1978. After graduating she went to Job Coer for her trade. She worked numerous jobs, retiring from George Washington University in Washington D.C after 36 years of service. Later to work at the University of Baltimore. A TIME TO SERVE Adorn gave her life to Christ at a early age. A TIME TO LIVE Adorn grew up on 25th and Harford Rd on the East side of Baltimore. She had many friends in the neighborhood. She was affectionately known as “Poodie” or “Big Adorn”. Adorn loved to play Cards and Dominoes. Leaving home when she was 18, lead her to be the Independent Women that we all knew to be. She was a avid Baltimore Ravens fan. But she was also known to switch teams from time to time depending on who was in the super bowl. Spending time with family was the highlight of her life. She especially enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren. Oh, not to mention spending time with her best friend JR (Her Dog). Though Adorn was small in stature, she was truly a protector of her family. Especially her siblings and her children. She was that one aunt that everybody loved. Taking the nieces and nephews to the store was an everyday after school thing. She was a chef in her own light, who loved making her famous tacos and pink salmon. If it was one final word to describe Adorn, it would simply be “Dependable” no matter what, she was always present. She would even give you the last dollar in her pocket or the shirt of her back. Her presence in the family will surely be missed. A TIME TO REST On May 9th, 2021 (Mother’s Day) Adorn went Home for the Holiday receiving her robe and her crown, transitioning from earth to the kingdom of God. A TIME TO LOVE Adorn was preceded in death by her father Donald, mother Ruth, sister Vanessa and brothers Michael and Lennell. Adorn leaves to cherish her memories: her step mother Sarah Barney, only daughter Adorn Jenkins, sons Jeffrey and Jamal. Special Granddaughter Jayla, Grandson Blake (who called her his Best friend), Sisters Donna (Martin), Elaine, Jackie, and Tira; Brothers Mark (Roberta), Glen (Lashon) and Lamont. Aunts Iris Davis and Marlene Payne (Michael) Best friend “JR” her dog and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
