Mazerline Madison

Mazerline Madison was born on March 22, 1932, in Stateburg, Sumter County, South Carolina, to the late Johnnie Mathis and Gussie Mae Brown. She received her education in the public schools of South Carolina, where she developed the strength and resilience that carried her throughout her life. In 1945, she married the love of her life, Martin O. Madison (Omega). Together they shared over 40 years of marriage built on love, loyalty, and a deep and caring friendship. From this union, she was blessed with five children, whom she loved dearly and raised with devotion. Her legacy grew to include 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, each carrying forward her strength and spirit. She attended Holy Temple Freewill Baptist Church for several years and, in her later years, became an occasional visitor at Anointed House of Prayer (AHOP), where she attended services with her granddaughter. Mazerline was a God-fearing woman who kept her faith close to her heart. Even in her final days, you could find her whispering a prayer as she prepared to transition — a quiet testament to the faith that sustained her throughout her life. She dedicated many years of service to BWI Airport through Chimes and also worked in private duty nursing, caring for patients as if they were family and often remaining by their side until their final days. She also ran the business Busy Bees for several years, where her strong work ethic and determination were evident. Her home at 4102 Ethland Avenue was filled with laughter and love. At Grandma’s, you could just pick a couch. And if you were hungry, you could always get a hot plate. She loved fishing trips, gardening, road trips, and her trucks. One affectionately named “Mean Green” was a favorite — where her grandkids could often be found riding along with her in the back. Those moments became cherished memories for generations. She baked the best sweet potato pies and always had a list of people she was giving them to during the holidays. She spoke her mind, made everyone laugh, and loved deeply. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Martin O. Madison (Omega); her children Emily Madison, Jacqueline Johnson, Vander Madison, and Kevin Madison; her brother Earl Mathis; her parents; and her dear friend Buie Anderson. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son Robert Madison; her loving brother Johnnie Mathis; her beloved sister Mary Lee; her grandchildren; Josh Johnson, Erika Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Kevin Madison, Tanya Gray, Chartoose Madison, Keon Madison, Derrick Madison, Jene Madison, Dana Madison, Robert Madison (Rye-Rye), Darius Madison, Vander Madison, Kendell Madison, Christopher Madison, Anthony Stone (Tony), Tiffany Wilson, Brenton Harrid. Her great-grandchildren; Descan Johnson, Andrew Gray, Maya Gray, Kayla Madison, Leonard Shelley Jr., Rome Vines, Ticcara Johnson, Jazara Johnson, Julian Johnson, Janiyah Johnson, Aiden Johnson, Pramier Fields, Tigris Fields, Amia Madison, Aliyah Stone, Marcellous Dorsey, Taylor Swann, Serenity, Darius Madison Jr., Zola Daria Claudia Madison, and Zoey Daria Madison. Along with a host of nieces and nephews. Her very best friend Miss Barbara; and countless friends whose lives she touched. Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured, the laughter she shared, and the prayers she whispered until her final days.
