Louis Edward Phipps, Jr. was born on August 14, 1959, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the oldest son of the late Louis E. (Sr.) and Dorothy R. Phipps. He went to sleep in death on Thursday, May 12, 2022, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Louis, affectionately known as Junior, was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He graduated from Northwestern Senior High School in 1977. He was very athletic- played basketball and ran track. He received several trophies and awards due to his superior abilities. Even after high school, Lou remained energetic by playing basketball every Sunday up until five years ago. He was a sports enthusiast but especially loved the Baltimore Ravens. Junior met the love of his life, Sharon Newby, and they were married on November 23, 1979. From this union came Kellan Newby-Phipps. Junior worked for General Motors Plant in White Marsh, Maryland. He was a hard worker and took the opportunity to learn new skills every opportunity he got. He retired from General Motors in February, 2020. Junior was the life of the party. He loved to dance and listen to music. He had a special fondness for Frankie Beverly and Maze along with the Commodores. To know Junior is to have laughed or shared a kind word with him, whether you were a close friend or stranger he treated you the same. Being humbly social was a special gift upon which Junior was bestowed; those around him were drawn to his infectious smile and ebullient personality. He was truly a gentle giant who was loved by all. Junior loved his daughter and his grandson, Xerxes with all his heart. He enjoyed spending quality time with Xerxes. He was family-oriented and was close to his brothers and sisters. It was his daughter, Kellan, his brothers and sister, and his friend, Angela Hilliard who cared for him during his final months of life. Junior leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Kellan (Javan), and his grandson, Xerxes. He also leaves his siblings Dorothea (Georgy); Curtis (Donna); Kevin (Andrea); Gregory (Lisha); Monica (Michael); Marcus (Stacey); and Micah. He also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other friends who were like family. Junior was loved by all who knew him, and he will be sincerely missed.
