Hardat Mahase

In the presence of his wife and sons, Hardat Mahase left the Earth and the grasp of the second Trump administration on March 22, 2025. He will be missed and remembered fondly, and his spouse and sons will find comfort in knowing they will no longer be assisting him in his construction projects. Though the projects made his family question his choices, Hardat was a talented man who led a well-lived life. Born on February 6, 1948 in a little known and mostly mispronounced country called Guyana, Hardat was the second of two children. He was a hard worker since his younger days and carried the very same work ethic that took him the University of Guyana where he was trained in engineering. By the grace of God, he somehow met his spouse and they were married on October 23, 1977. And not too longer after being hitched, he gained a position at Guyana Pharmaceuticals as mechanical engineer. Engineering intrigued him and he was able to gain admission to Howard University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1985. The bachelor’s degree was not enough for him so he earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1997 from Howard University. He worked for the District of Columbia government, John Christie & Associates, Setty and Associates, and the National Institute of Health before retiring at the ripe, young age of 68. He enjoyed cricket, animals, home improvement and construction projects where he single-handedly increased the value of the Home Depot, Toyota trucks, and never hesitated to complain about the poor performance of the West Indies cricket team and GOP policies. His retirement years were spent traveling around the world with his wife and doing personal building and construction projects that would make a builder inspector question his/her life choices. He was always ready to help the neighbors and others who need assistance as it was an opportunity for him to use his power tools. Hardat will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and father-in-law, and beloved uncle and cousin. His legacy will live on through his wife of 47.25 years Timni, his sons Vidhyanand and Pameshanand, and daughter Francine. He is further survived by his sister Tulsidai and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand-kitty Eggsy. A celebration of the legend will be held on Friday, March 28 at the March Life Tribute Center located at 7601 Sandy Spring Road Laurel, MD at 10:00 AM and a religious ceremony will be held at 9:00 AM at the aforementioned address.
