DeAndre` Jamar Simms

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, our beloved son, brother, father, and friend, DeAndre` Jamar Simms, departed this life at the age of 35. He was born on April 27, 1990, to Wallisha Simms and Myron Miller. DeAndre`’s life was a journey of trials, resilience, and redemption. Though he faced many challenges early on, he refused to let hardship define him, and through perseverance and personal growth, he was reformed and renewed. He chose a new path—one centered on love, responsibility, and purpose. The greatest joy and accomplishment of his life was becoming the proud father of his daughter, Malayah Bailee-Marie Simms. She was his inspiration and his pride, and he devoted himself fully to giving her the love, protection, and guidance every child deserves. He didn’t shy away from showering her with endless gifts to show his affection he had for her and continued to make plans to ensure her betterment for her future. DeAndre` also cherished his family deeply. He was a loving brother to Darrell Lamond Mitchell Jr., Jamisha Julia-Patrice Swinson, Andrea Wooten, Meonte Hines, Myron Miller Jr., Mykiah Hines, Tekia Jackson, and a devoted son to his mother and father. He showed endless affection to his siblings. He was especially loved by his grandmother, Patricia Ann Simms, his aunt, Twanna Nicole Grannum, and his cousins, Jade Nicole Grannum and Cedric Grannum. To his friends, he was known as a man of loyalty—someone who stood firmly by those he loved, through good times and bad. He was a man of principle, never letting slight transgressions come between him and his rooted connection he had to others. He will be remembered for his strength of spirit, his laughter, and the way he turned adversity into a testimony of change. Though his time on this earth was far too brief, the impact of his love and the lessons of his life will endure. His story is one of transformation, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those closest to him. DeAndre` leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved daughter, Malayah Bailee-Marie Simms; his mother, Wallisha Simms; his father, Myron Miller; his siblings, Darrell Lamond Mitchell Jr., Jamisha Julia-Patricia Swinson, Andrea Wooten, Meonte Hines, Myron Miller Jr., Mykiah Hines, Tekia Jackson, and a host of family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. “Though he may be gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts.”
