Candace Wilson

Beulah Candace Martin Boone Wilson, affectionately known as “Candy” was born on March 8, 1940, to Allen Luther Boone and Clara Gaye Boone in Franklin, Virginia. She departed this earth on March 4, 2024. Candace was educated in the Franklin School System. Upon graduating high school, she attended Talladega College and Virginia Union University. After college, Candace relocated to Queens, New York where she began her 30-year career in working as a ticket agent for Pan American and Delta airlines. Candace enjoyed traveling and meeting new people … and she NEVER met a stranger! Her positions with the airlines afforded her the opportunity to satisfy both of her passions. Not long after her arrival in New York, she met and married Charles Wilson. To this union two children were born, Francine Paulette Lee and Charles Allen Wilson Jr. Candace’s world revolved around her children and while raising them, rarely could she be found without them. Candace was also a self-proclaimed foodie. Everyone she encountered was met with the same questions, “What are you having for dinner?” or “What did you cook yesterday?” Food was her love language. Candace was preceded in death by her parents Allen and Clara, brother and best friend, Allen Jr., step-grandson Desmond and “sister” Sandra. Candace leaves to cherish her memory, Charles, her husband of 55 years, two children Francine (Andre’) and Charles Jr. (Erica), three grandchildren, Ethan, Evan and Elan, two step-grandsons, Andre Jr. (Stacy), Devin, two brothers-in-law, Woodrow (Delores) and Douglas (Wanda), three nieces Bernadette, Marvenise, and Waciana, five nephews Allen III, Brent, Brendan, Detrick and Bryan, her “sister” Juanita, and a host of family and friends. The day the Lord called you home A part of us went with you So, you didn’t leave alone It broke our hearts to lose you We didn’t want to see you go We hope you knew we loved you More than you will ever know Heaven must be so beautiful He always takes the best He knew that you were tired So He lifted you to rest Your pain and suffering are over No more will it be known We celebrate your new life As you worship by God’s throne
