Anthony (Tony) Michael Johnson Sr. graced the world with his presence on November 2, 1964 in the Brookland area of Washington D.C. He was adopted by William L. Johnson Sr. and Eva Faleria Strother Johnson. Tony’s biological mother knew she was dying of tuberculosis, so she asked her nurse Eva if she would adopt her son. At the time, Eva was 55 and her husband William 59 years of age, but they happily agreed to adopt Tony in 1964. In 1983, Tony graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington DC. He also completed coursework at local colleges in Virginia and acquired certifications for his professional work. Tony’s tenacity and desire to work remains evident in his work ethic. He worked two jobs most of this life. In his corporate career, he worked in program security management and information systems at Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. He also ran a thriving cleaning company for 20+ years. He believed in hard work, but most of all, he was a dreamer! In 2016, Tony brought life to his marriage with Patricia. He loved the life they lived together and sought to be the perfect husband in all ways. Tony’s heart, mind, body and soul emanated love, kindness and security. He was a devoted partner to his wife, Patricia. Tony dedicated his life to being a father and mentor to his now adult children Anthony ‘Tony’ Jr. and Nina. He adored his children and made certain others knew how proud he was of them. Tony gave over 20 years of his time and vocal abilities to Antioch Baptist Church in Lorton, VA. In the last year, Tony began a new journey as a vocalist at New Shiloh Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD. Tony’s love for music of all kinds speaks to his eclectic ear. One of his favorite musical groups was IL DIVO. He played their songs over and over many days. Tony is survived by his wife Patricia, son and daughter Anthony Jr. and Nina, grandson Liam, nephew Wallace Sr., great nephew Wallace Jr. and his children, nieces Michelle Marbra and Crystal E. Johnson and their children Makhi, Jalen, Legaci, and a host of family and friends. Anthony (Tony) Michael Johnson, Sr. touched those around him in profound ways.
