Rosa Lee Dickerson

Rosa Lee Brown-Dickerson was born on March 25, 1939, loved by Phyllis and Ellis Hardy Sr., who proceeded her in death. On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loved ones, God in His infinite wisdom removed our Beloved Rosa from her long period of suffering and called her home to rest. Rosa was affectionately known to be called Mom, Mama, Grams, God Mother, Goo Fly, Aunt Rose, Mama Rose, Miss Lady, Evangelist, and Sister Dickerson. She was admired by many people. Rosa was educated in the Baltimore Public School System. Rosa worked as the Assistant Manager for Charles Restaurant, Nurse Assistant at Dukeland Nursing Home and Childcare at her home until she retired with Kai being her last child. Although she kept saying "I'm tired of running after these kids, she would find a way to be there for any child. Mama Rose was a very wise, loving, compassionate, giving and ____ person. She would help anyone at any time giving them her last. She never took you down always lifting you up encouraging you to be your best, feel good about yourself and life. Mama Rosa as some would call her would help you see the good in any situation telling you "Baby lets figure this thing out," making sure you understood the choices you made and their consequences, letting you know when you're wrong and assist you with finding a solution. Miss Rose loved to sit and talk to you, sometimes for hours. She enjoyed many conversations with Deborah, Harvey and Rev. Miller. She didn't let anyone know your secrets, she took them to the grave with her. Rosa had a gift of seeing the good in everyone, making you feel like you can take on the World and survive it all. She understood life and its' trials and tribulations and not taking them lightly. And always reminding you that life is about choices and ownership of them. Sis. Dickerson found God at an early age, no matter what she never let go of His unchanging hands. Whenever she encountered someone old or new she would greet them with a big smile and encourage them to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior, letting them know they have a soul that needs to be saved and a Great God to glorify. Sis. Dickerson took serving the Lord very seriously. She especially loved to sing Gospel at anytime and anywhere and would sing Chapel Freewill Baptist Church where she dedicated her life to serving and ministering there until her death. She wore many hats there except for pastoring, she would say, "that's a hard job." In 2002 Sis. Dickerson was ordained as an Evangelist by Emeritus Robert Branch. Mom enjoyed her children, godchildren, grands, great-grand, great great-grands. She also enjoyed Neal and Yvonne stopping by saying, "Aunt Rose what did you cook?" She made time for everyone, always saying "there's enough of me for all of you." Mama played games (jump rope, jacks, dodgeball, hopscotch etc.) she especially loved playing fun card like spades and joking with her grands, watching her Ravens and Orioles with Linda and Ivy. Rosa would talk about her mini vacations/outings with her on the road grad-daughters Monica and Aiyanna, they would go everywhere to football and baseball games, to go eat crabs, to see cherry blossom, just going out of town to have their time together with Gramps/Goo Fly. Grandma would call her private nurse before allowing anyone to do anything, she would say, No, no call Tee." The majority of Rosa's life was spent helping others and keeping her family and extended family together, which put joy in her heart. Rosa will fondly be remembered by her family and friends as a loving, kind, thoughtful, giving, supporting, humorist, jolly, dependable, compassionate, champion of the underdog. Rosa had six siblings: Ellis Jr., Marjorie, Lonnie, Frances, Mattie, Paulene; other relatives Sidney, Garry Sr., William and Eric all proceeded her in death. Rosa leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Ivy, Linda, Marcia, Sherie, Thomas (Jennifer) Anthony, Shirrette, Darius "Her Baby" (Lynnette); eighteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren; eleven great-great grands; special friends: Beverly, Patricia (Pat), Elaine Branch and a host of other relatives and friends.
