Leonard Prescott

Leonard L. Prescott, son of the late Willie and Ruth Prescott, was born on July 26, 1952 in Sumter, South Carolina. He departed this life on September 4, 2020, after a lengthy illness. Leonard was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Forest Park Senior High School in 1970. Leonard accepted Christ and was baptized at the Evangelical Baptist Church in Baltimore. Leonard loved attending church with his mother. He often visited Zion Baptist Church, where he would worship with his daughter, Tracy. Even though his health prevented Leonard from attending church service, he was a true believer in the Lord. Leonard started his career at the North Charles General Hospital as a maintenance supervisor. He later worked for both the University of Maryland and The Johns Hopkins University. Leonard officially retired in 2004. Despite his retirement, Leonard would not stop working. After retirement, Leonard was a driver for Miller Transportation. He loved driving all over the city and state. It could be transporting Pre-K kids to the zoo, college kids to the mall, or seniors to the casino, he loved what he did. It took his health to stop his motivation to work. Leonard was affectionately called many names by his family and friends: Bobby, Bobby P, Prescott, but Dad and Pop Pop was his two favorites. He was a loving father and he was truly the ultimate #GIRLDAD. He couldn’t escape it and later became a #GIRLGRANDDAD. Leonard loved his girls and they loved him back. It was nothing he would not do for them. He spent many hours at ballet class, recitals, basketball games, school trips, concerts, mall adventures and never once complained. Leonard had a special bond with each of his girls. Tracy and him shared a love for eating out. They would often have lunch dates and visit different restaurants around the city. Bria and him loved going to the movie theater together. They never missed a new release. Even as the girls grew up, he made sure to continue those special moments with his girls. He was always their biggest cheerleader and supported whatever dreams and goals they had. He never missed a holiday or birthday celebration and even drove his oldest granddaughter’s school to the farm just to get extra time with her. He enjoyed sports—ALL OF THEM—he would come to visit but you better have the game on because he did not want to miss a snap, shot, or pitch. Leonard leaves to cherish his memory, two devoted daughters, Tracy Damon and Bria Prescott; son-in-law, Sean Damon; two granddaughters, Karter and Sloane Damon; two aunts, Gene Porter and Patricia Stevens; two nephews Donel and Cory Austin and four special friends, Joe, Michael, Duane and James.
